Ryan Howe vs. jobber
Ryan Howe will be the first match, and we learn that he defeated Jay Bradley in their submission match at Saturday Night Special. So much for Bradley’s new MMA gimmick. I mean, to lose your first big match, with a new gimmick, is never a good thing. Howe is taking on a “jobber” or enhancement talent, that doesn’t event get a graphic of his name on screen, so as such, I have no idea who he is. I believe it’s Leon Shelly. Howe wins with an arm bar submission. While a decent wrestler, I have no idea why you’d push him over Bradley, unless Bradley is done with OVW?
Winner: Ryan Howe
We get an update on the OVW Southern Tag Team Title. Hayes and Ali won the match at Saturday Night Special, with Ted McNaler taking the pin, and being fired from OVW for it, as per the stipulation. So it appears that The Mobile Homers are no more. The announcers again tell us how Marcus Anthony destroyed Smooth Johnny Spade, and ask if anyone can overcome Anthony’s full nelson. We also learn that The Marauder’s took out TPT. He’s interviewed at ringside, and says, the next time he, and Flash, take on Jones, and the Marauder’s, it will be a “two canes on a pole match.”
Jessie Belle vs Lovely Lylah
Minutes into the match, a masked man slides in, and smashes the knee of Lylah with a steel pipe. Mass confusion as referees fill the ring, to help Laylah, as Jessie also tends to her. The masked man stalks all of them for a few seconds, but then leaves. The crowd and announce team is in shocked silence.
Eddie Diamond, and Deante Davis vs. Dylan Bostic and The Mexecutioner
Dylan Bostic and The Mexecutioner, Robo de Luna make their way to the ring. We learn that these two mean attacked the OVW Southern Tag team champion, Michael Hayes, at Saturday Night Special. I’m left wondering what happened to Jessie Godderz? Wasn’t he just named Bostic’s wing man? Instead now, it seems de Luna is Bostic’s body guard, and there is no mention of Godderz. The announce team does ask when Bostic and Robo got so close, and what their relationship is all about. At least we get that much. There is also no Ray Lyn, with Bostic. They are set to face Eddie Diamond, and Deante Davis. Robo spends most of his time in the ring beating up the opposition, tagging Bostic in to slap them around, and act cocky. This continues most of the match, as Bostic, and Robo keep Davis in the ring and just dominate him. Eddie Diamond gets very little time in the ring. Robo spears Davis, and gives the pin to Bostic.
Winner: Dylan Bostic and The Mexecutioner
After the match Bostic gets an interview with Gilbert, and thankfully is asked about Godderz, and when he formed a partnership with Robo. Bostic says he realize that a wing man isn’t what he needed. He needed muscle, and Robo is the best money he’s ever spent. He says people have been saying he’s a good wrestler, but doesn’t take things seriously. Now he is taking things serious, and will win the OVW Southern tag team champions. Robo gets some mic time and speaks in Spanish. Ali hits ringside with a steel chair and chases them off. He congratulates Bostic, and Robo for having his full attention. He calls them cowards, and earlier, asked Danny Davis for a favor. Next week it will be Ali vs. Bostic, one on one.
I’m okay with a more serious Bostic, as I can deal with not seeing a Bro-Mans type gimmick, on two wrestling shows. I missed Ray Lyn though, and wonder what’s next for her. She wasn’t even mentioned during the match, or in the post-match interview.
OVW TV Championship Match Elvis Pridemoore vs Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus
Elvis Pridemoore is out to take on Mr. Marvelous, Melvin Maximus, for the OVW TV title. Elvis is another guy that wrestles in jeans, but he’s seriously wrestling with his cap on backwards as well….umm, no. It’s bad enough if a wrestler can’t wear a pair of trunks, or tights, but wearing baseball hat, backwards yet, just screams bush league. Thankfully it’s over quickly, as Marvelous captures him in his bear hug, and makes him submit.
Winner: Mr. Marvelous, Melvin Maximus
The Body Guy is out to confront Marvelous. He claims he made Marvelous who he is, and that he isn’t happy that Marvelous turned his back on him, at Saturday Night Special. Body claims he has some notes in regard to OVW rules. He reads that in the event that there is no number one contender for a title, former champions are considered highly. As such, next week, for the TV title, it’s Mr. Marvelous vs. The Body Guy, and he will leave Marvelous beaten, and embarrassed.
Shiloh Jonze vs. Jamin Olivencia
Main Event time, as Shiloh Jonze makes his way to the ring with two of his Marauders. Jamin Olivencia is next out, pumped up and ready to go. The match starts off with each guy trading a face slap, and Jamin taking control with power moves. Marauders now surround the outside of the ring. It will be a shame if this match involves any outside interference, as both Jamin, and Shiloh can go. Jonze chops Jamin, in the corner, and Jamin no sells it, reverses, and chops Shiloh to death. Jonze consulting with the Marauders, outside the ring, and one attempts to distract Jamin, but it doesn’t work, and Jamin continues to dominate. Shiloh turns it around with a big spear into Jamin, in the corner. He chokes Jamin, on the second rope, and the Marauders continue it, when referee Chris Sharpe backs Shiloh off of Jamin. As Jamin begins to rebound, a Marauder trips him, from outside the ring, and Shiloh knocks him out of the ring, to get a beat down by The Marauders, as Shiloh fakes a leg injury, to get Sharpe’s attention. Referee, Chris Sharpe, finally has enough, and tosses every Marauder from ringside. As I suspected, the match really picks up the pace, after the ringside distractions are eliminated. After several near falls, from both men, Jamin is hammering Shiloh from the corner, but referee Sharpe, counts, but when Jamin doesn’t stop, Sharpe pulls at him, causing Jamin to accidently hit Sharpe, knocking him to the canvas. Shiloh lands a knee to Jamin’s head, as he tends to Sharpe. As Jamin recovers, Shiloh takes off his boot. Flash Flannigan runs in, and nails Shiloh with a cane, and Jamin hits “the standing O” for the pin, as Sharpe recovers to count the pin.
Afterword’s, Marcus Anthony, and Timmy Danger, hit the ring. Marcus nails Jamin with the OVW title numerous times, and locks in his full nelson on Jamin, swinging him back and forth. Gilbert shouts “Enough! Enough! Enough!” then asking” who can stop this beast?” as the show fades out.
Winner: Jamin Olivencia
This was a decent match, which Jamin pretty much had to win. I am surprised they did nothing with the ref bump, but maybe it was just another small piece in what’s coming with that story line. OVW builds to each weeks show pretty solidly. We are going to see The Body Guy try and take (steal) Mr. Marvelous’s TV title. Ali vs. Dylan Bostic, and fall out from Flash Flannigan caning Shiloh Jonze. I suspect the ref bump will be addressed in some way as well, with Jamin Olivencia and Chris Sharpe. This was a decent show, but I sure wish I could have seen Saturday Night Special, beforehand.
