– ROH announced the following today…
On September 22nd, Ring of Honor returns to Baltimore & The Du Burns Arena for “Fan Appreciation Night” and with it comes one of the traditional events of our calendar year: the Survival of the Fittest tournament!
Since 2004 Ring of Honor has presented the Survival of Fittest tournament every year save 2008, and now for the first time the city of Baltimore will play host. While the qualifying matches may take on a different color ever year, the end result is generally the same, 6 men fighting it out in anelimination bout with a future shot at the ROH World Title on the line! Look at the stellar line-up of the men who have previously won the tourney:
2004 – Bryan Danielson
2005 – Roderick Strong
2006 – Delirious
2007 – Chris Hero
2009 – Tyler Black
2010 – Eddie Edwards
2011 – Michael Elgin
Of those seven men, 5 have failed to capitalize on their championship match, only Eddie Edwards has thus far successfully parlayed his SOTF crown into World Title success, while Michael Elgin’ s opportunity comes at “Glory by Honor XI” on October 13th.
What shade will the qualifiers take on this year? Who will be the entrants into this year’s field? Keep an eye on ROHWrestling.com for more details as officials finalize the participants and the matches. In the meantime, pick up your tickets for our September 22nd return to Baltimore, MD
