As we previously reported here on the website, WWE Diva Elizabeth Carolan, a.k.a Beth Phoenix, will be finishing up with the companyshortly. Several websites are reporting that Phoenix will be retiring in October but we’re told that is not the case. We reported last month that lots of mid-card talents were frustrated with numerous things (pay, travel, etc.). Many talents are also frustrated with the way they’re being used. As it pertains to the Divas division, there are many who are unhappy as WWE is currently pushing the tag-team division over the Divas division. As we’ve been reporting, Triple H has major plans to revamp the tag-team division. You’ve been seeing the early stages of that in recent weeks.
Phoenix has been very unhappy with her status within the companyfor months now and has been quietly talking about leaving for awhile. As of now, Phoenix plans to take a break from pro wrestling after finishing up with WWE in October. There are some who feel Phoenixtold WWE she was tired and was going to retire as a way to get out of her contract. After a break later this year, she plans to work the indy scene and will likely wind up in TNA at some point.
Phoenix made her WWE debut in 2006 as an ally to Trish Stratus during her feud with Mickie James. She would go on to hold the WWE Women’s Championship three times, as well as the WWE Diva’s Championship.
Phoenix was en route to displacing Maryse Ouellet as the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion in history earlier this year, however lost the belt a week before she could break the record to Nikki Bella on the April 23rd episode of RAW.
