We open things up in the ring as Leo Kruger does battle with Antonio Cesaro. Last week these two men fought each other, as they both wanted to accept the Bo Dallas Invitational, so to make up for that, we are getting an actual match this week. No Zeb Colter, not sure if he has given up his goal of deporting Sami Zayn or not.
Four seconds into the match, Cesaro rips the shirt off Leo as the two heels exchange chops to their respective bare chests. Both men are fairly well liked. Our smart mark fans chant to Push Cesaro. I don't know why they would want Leo to shove him, but maybe he should.
In theory Cesaro should be getting a title shot before Sami, since he doesn't lose much and has beaten Zayn about 57 times. Antonio's back may be hurting from swinging Khali twice already this week...and even worse, when he tried to swing Hornswoggle. Leo fights from underneath, crotches Cesaro on the top rope and nails a big superplex as we go to break.
Apparently the Hulu commercials just aren't enough as WWE includes their own annoying ads after the commercial break.
We come back to seeing Leo Kruger with a suicide dive of all things. Leo with an Arn Anderson spine buster and goes for the Slice, but Cesaro rolls outside the ring to avoid the move. When Kruger comes out to get him, Cesaro slams him into the ring post and then gives Kruger a side suplex on the ring apron. Kruger beats the count both times, as Antonio is going for the count out.
Cesaro got a 9 count off of a gut wrench suplex on the ramp. At this point I ask why he doesn't do it in the ring and try to get the pin. Antonio listened to me and got a 2 count with a reverse Torture Rack Drop. Kruger back dropped out of the Neutralizer, but got hit with the Falling European Uppercut. Cesaro slapped on a sleeper and Kruger did the baby face comeback, but his time was finally up as Antonio got the win with a Neutralizer.
This match was better than most of the matches at Battleground. After the bell, Cesaro dropped a knee on Leo from the top rope. I was waiting for the reverse decision DQ, but never got it.
Charlotte (w/Bayley) pinned Santana Garrett
Renee Young comes out for the Diva's Match as the Nature Girl goes one on one with Santana Garrett. Bayley is here for some strange, odd, unknown reason. Santana with an arm bar when Summer Rae and the love of my life, Sasha Banks come down to ringside to make fun of Bayley and Charlotte. Renee talks about disliking Mean Girls. Pfft, what did Lindsay Lohan ever do to her? Anyhoo, Charlotte won with her flipping neck breaker.
After the match, Summer took the mic and told all 5 Diva's in the locker room to know who the First Lady and the Boss of NXT were. They took credit for Paige being gone, so of course Paige ran out to attack both ladies. Paige gets beaten down 2-on-1 until Emma made the save.
-Another video package for Mojo Rawley. That name still sucks.
-Tony Dawson is interviewing Sasha and Summer. They want a tag team match next week.
Mojo Rawley pinned Danny Burch
Mojo allegedly has mojo. His gimmick is he jumps high apparently. Burch actually got a lot of offense before Mojo won with Naomi's butt to the face and John Tenta's Earthquake splash.
-Dawson, who just won't leave my screen, wants to know Emma and Paige's response to the challenge. They accepted but argued over who would get the win in the match.
The Fighting Legionnaire (w/Sylvester Lefort) defeated Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy
The Fighting Legionnaire gets a new name and a new theme. We continue the feud over who are the most real guys in NXT. The fans basically chant Enzo and Colin's promo for them. The last time these two teams fought it was during Match 2 of Tag Team Turmoil two weeks ago. The storyline continues where Amore and Dawson get zero offense in against the bigger men, band only get offense in on their smaller counterparts. Big Cass broke up a pin, so Rusev knocked his head off. Alexander locked on the Camel Clutch for the submission win.
After the match, Rusev gave a back splash to Cassidy before slapping the Camel Clutch on him as well.
-Renee Young is with the #1 Contender to the NXT Championship: Sami Zayn. Zayn says the hardest thing was getting the title shot and vows to win the title next week. Serious Bo walks up and says he thought they were friends and his feelings were hurt. Sami says he has no problems with him even though no one likes him, he just wants his championship. Bo said they could team up, become NXT Tag Champions and rule NXT as friends. Sami agrees to do it...right after Zayn wins the NXT Championships
Rob Van Dam (w/Ricardo Rodriguez) vs Aiden English
Ricardo and RVD both leave the ER and come to Full Sail for the main event. The match starts with less than seven minutes to go in the show, so we won't be having the lengthy main event. At least we know it won't get dull. Aiden gets the heat by kicking the ropes as RVD came through the ropes. I know I am shocked that Aiden didn't shove him off the top rope and into the guardrail. There was not much to the match, RVD fought out of a headlock, hit Rolling Thunder and the Five Star Frog Splash for the win.
With that, we come to the end of yet another episode of NXT. Next week! It is my three year anniversary! I started with the 2010 Wrestling Observer Award Winning Worst Match Of The Year (Kaitlyn vs Maxine) and now it is Bo Dallas defending the NXT Title against Sami Zayn! Who will walk out with the gold. Find out in 7 days!
