– Deadline reports that WWE has hired a new marketing executive in the WWE Studios films division. The new executive, Julie Tustin, previously worked at Paramount and Miramax.
– WWE.com has published a new interview with WWE archivist Ben Brown about how he was able to acquire the original WWWF title from Dave Millican. Millican had discovered the title in Johnny Barend’s attic. In exchange for the title, Millican had wanted “one of a kind” WWE memorabilia.
Regarding why the title belonging to Buddy Rogers was recognized as a WWE title, Brown Said: “The story is that the National Wrestling Alliance had put the NWA Title on Verne Gagne. Vince didn’t think that Verne would draw money in the Northeast territory, so he split off from the NWA and promoted his own champion in Buddy Rogers, who he thought would be a better headliner for that area.” Gagne was never NWA champion. It was actually Lou Thesz he was speaking of. WWE later removed that portion from the interview.
